मूर्खश्चिरायुर्जातोऽपि तस्माज्जातमृतो वरः ।
मृतः स चाल्पदुःखाय यावज्जीवं जडो दहेत् ॥४.७॥
mūrkhaścirāyurjāto’api tasmājjātamṛto varaḥ |
mṛtaḥ sa cālpaduḥkhāya yāvajjīvaṃ jaḍo dahet ||4.7||
better to die immediately upon birth, than to live a long life as a fool; one who dies as soon as he is born, suffers little grief, whereas the fool as long as he lives, goes on burning
