Jhini Re Jhini Re Jhini Chadariya

Pt. Kumar Gandharva singing Kabir’s nirguni bhajan:

jhini jhini jhini jhini bini chadariya

so chadar sur nar muni odhe, odh ke maili kini chadariya

jhini jhini jhini jhini bini chadariya

Another version of the same song:

jhini re jhini re jhini chadariya, jhini re jhini re jhini chadariya
ke ram naam ras bhini chadariya, jhini re jhini re jhini chadariya
ashta kamal dal charkha doley, panch tatva, gun tini chadariya
saiin ko siyat mas dus lagey, thokey-thokey ke bini chadariya
so chadar sur nar muni odi, odi ke maili kini chadariya
das kabir jatan so odi, jyon ki tyon dhar deeni chadariya

Villagers singing this song gives it a unique touch. There is a very beautiful version of this song in the film “Had Anhad” (Bounded Boundless) directed by Shabnam Virmani (of Project Kabir fame) and recorded in the village of Pugal, Bikaner District, where local village artists including Mukhtiarji perform with joy and abandon, in the true spirit of the song.  The lyrics are as follows:

Chadariya jheeni re jheeni
Raam naam ras bini
Chadariya jheeni re jheeni

Ashtha kamal dal charkha chale
Ye paanch rang ki puri
Nau das maas banan ko lage
Murakh maili kini

Jad mori chadar ban ghar aayee
Ye dhubiyan ke ghar deene
Surt shila par de phatkaro
Is bin nirmal kini

Chadariya jheeni re jheeni
Hey ji Raam naam ras bini
Chadariya jheeni re jheeni

Different singers sing in slightly different versions and raagas; however, raag des is the most frequently used by singers.
